Glass-filled rubies are mined rubies that have been enhanced to improve their appearance. Minute fractures in the stone are filled with a special glass, resulting in a more vibrant colour and clearer, less clouded appearance. Note that these gems should be cleaned with mild soap and water, and should not be put in an ultrasonic cleaner.

Due to the nature of this gemstone it is best suited to prong settings in yellow or rose gold, rather than bezel settings or white gold.
